Woo 2008! Maryland now has an active web presence on Myspace and Bebo (with over a hundred 'fans'!). We've recently released the new track 'Mutant Soundroom Skum from Outerspace' which can be heard on either of the above mediums!
If you're keen to hear some great non-commercial music check out MUNTfm streaming live if you're not in the Wellington region, they supported us alot last year.
Also, the AbominableGinnypig Productions server is back up and running with continual updates.
Aight - Peace.
Maryland MUNTfm demo of the week - Next week (7th May) Maryland will be demo of the week on MUNT 88.5FM (The Massey Welly radio station). It will be played at 8.45am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So tune in if you're in Wellington and still own a radio for some reason!
Also, please excuse me for such infrequent site updates, it has seen a bit of neglect due to my frequent myspacing... speaking of which, check out Marylands myspace page - finally got a recording of 'Radio' up.

Last night I mixed and uploaded the mp3 of 'I like it when you bite', you can stream or download it from mp3.com.au, it was actually recorded during March this year, but I have not had time to complete it till now. After a few years of denying the necessity when one already has a website, I have finally caved and made a maryland page on myspace.com, www.myspace.com/marylandnz

Well my new little musical experiment, My Green Echo Satellites has come out of the closet, performing at the Rockquest Heats last Saturday and The Swampfest DVD release show last night.
Vinny, Stephanie and I had a little recorded jam session last weekend, you can check out the video of one of our messy improv. sessions here.

Hm, so looks like 'NZ Music Month' just flew by with me neglecting to update until the 3rd to last day of the month!
Well we played our first R18 show last Thursday at MuBar with the awfully helpful Not Quite Right and Australian band The Disables. It was nice to see some good ol' fashion punk from the Disables, and many thanks to Not Quite Right for again letting us use their gear!
Manawatu Rockquest Heats are just one weekend away, due to all my darn band mates not being eligible for one reason or another, I'll be entering a little guitar/vocals piece, not sure at all how it will turn out, but if you want to hear something weird the heats are on the 10th of June at Massey Hokiwhitu campus, I think.

Well thanks to much help from friends and the City Council I held the Fools Day Out in the Square on the 1st of April.
It was a fabulous sunny day, our new bass man greatly proved himself with what I think might have been a better-than-I've-heard-us-before performance!
We were blessed by the schnazzy line up of Bing Turkby, Black Chrome, The B-Side Electro Funk Disaster (sorry for mis spelling your name on the posters), _felix theorum and Twice Daily who glady donated excellent sets.
As for Maryland, Vinnys picked up the backing vocals and has instantly added another noise to the band! (it's a good one this time). I also got to show off my beautiful SG in it's first public performance on the 1st, I'll try post some photos of the drool-producer on the site some time.
I'll get some more Maryland recording done and post up a demo some time, apologies for laziness. I've been making alot of ambient instrumental music this year, I'm planning to make up a website with it once I tidy it all up a bit.
I've still got Maryland tee-shirts, hoodies and badges so give us a holla at boyle.austin@gmail.com if you've got a hankering for some more 'land.

Maryland will be playing with Not Quite Right at The Stomach on the 17th of March. Badges and hopefully cds at the door!

Hey! we're back! It was a long holiday with many postponed practices, but we're on the road again.
Sadly a week ago we had to see Shaun Wos leave the position as bassman, but we have just made a new (almost related) recruitment of Vincent Olsenreeder! The lad seems mighty tallented and enthusiastic so I'm sure it will be no disappointment.
During the break I've been dabbling in some recording, and will soon have a demo of some new hip Maryland sounds available for download.
I'm organising a show in the Square in Palmerston North on April 1st, it will probably be some time late afternoon, yet to be confirmed. We're also playing a show up in New Plymouth some time in the next month!
1/10/05
Well, for once I actually have some news worth reading to place in the 'News' section!
A few weeks ago our drummer-man Mr. Stephen Walker who has served Maryland for the past
few years decided to leave the band.
Although it could be seen as a bit of a downer,
we have quickly recruited a new super-enthused skin-beater
who goes by the name of Jono Hicks.
With the increased commitment we've been jamming far more and workin' on a
few new tunes as well as Hicks managing to pick up all the old ones in a practice or
two (after learning them when he filled in for Parachute at the start of the year).
Alright! enough of blowing Jonos already over-blown horn. We'll be showing off the new line-up at the tummy on the 4th of November, along with Collapse, Stilleto and Twice Daily (whom might I add, have also just recruited a new and extremely tallented little drumming machine theirselves... not that I'm biased or anything).
I think we're on last so please do stick around, I'll stuff my pockets full of badges for all interested they'll be $2 at the door or something I imagine. Seeyall there!
14/8/05
Horrah for being less lazy! At last, here are the badge designs:
If you really want one of either or both designs, you can contact me via email or cellular telephone, if not, you'll surely have them thrust before you at the next Maryland gig you attend!

As a good opportunity to test out our new amps, we kindly agreed to perform at the 'Rangitikei Wearable Arts Festival' in the Bulls Town Hall, a 'fund-raiser' for Clifton School. With a crowd of about 200 grandmas and small children to witness, I embarrassed myself thoroughly by swearing loudly when someone tripped over and unplugged the extension cord to my guitar amp, what a role model.
On the up side - gear managed to power the hall good and proper, most of which running on about 4. To celebrate I feel I should hold a wee show at my whare, the date I had decided on turns out to conflict with a prior arrangement with the Rangitikei College Youth Brass Band, so I have been forced to postpone to a date which I will soon inform of. The deal is, if you know me well enough to find my house or beat directions out of me, your invited.

Fridays 'Feedback the foodbank' gig provided another showcase of Austin-getting-sick-a-few-days-before-gig-and-singing-with-a-even-shittier-voice-than-usual! but regardless, it was very nice, the turn out and amount of food donated was excellent, thanks to all who went to the trouble of attending! We played mainly our newest songs, seemed to go down okay, we'll see what happens if we stick to the slightly different style of them.
Just to backtrack a bit I'd also like to mention the previous lunch time concert at Girls High, I was quite pleased with the crowd reaction and hopefully we will manage to follow it by a couple more shows at some schools around the place.
Ahh so as you can see, I really have nothing of interest to add, I'm gonna get off my arse and get some badges made sometime, not sure what to put on them, everyone seems to suggest sperm. Whenever they end up getting produced, you all should buy one, infact, why not by one for every family member? I mean who doesn't like biology?

Finally contacted Radio Control today, they had lost our contact details and were unable to give us notice before playing the live to air set, but never fear, they have been kind enough to have it replayed on the local show in the next week or two. Thursday 6-8pm on 99.4fm, listen out!
The gig last Friday went so spectacularly, I really don't know how it happened, but we played the best we've ever played in public before! Let us hope it keeps up that way.
We've got another super gig coming up at Girls High this Friday. It's at lunch time in the hall and The Nymphs have kindly organised it and are opening for us. So all those who attend the lovely educational facility that is Palmerston North Girls High School, please come along and watch!
18/5/05
We're playing at The Stomach this Friday (20th) along with The Nymphs, Sourge of Tussin and Twice Daily. It should be a fab show as usual, $5 dollars, doors open at 8.

Wow! I was amazed at the turn out for the instore on Saturday! Minus a few stupid stuff ups it went most surprisingly well, and a few people even brought a cd!
In contrast the Radio Control 'Live to Air' set was ever so poorly performed on our behalf, funny how mistakes are only made when they matter, but no matter, it was all good fun. The interviewer turned out to be my cousins boyfriends older sister, we all thoroughly enjoyed faking the rockstar thing for a 5-minute interview although probably making complete dicks of ourselves, but we'll see when it airs. I haven't got a date yet, but the freqency for Radio Control is 99.4fm, so start tuning in your car sterios and bed-side alarm-clock-radios.
I have uploaded more mp3s to download if you missed out on a cd, the new mp3 page is www.mp3.com.au/Maryland/
Next on the agenda, we are organising a lunch time gig at Palmerston North Girls High *giggles at the thought of 1200 girl* The date currently being proposed is the 27th of May, that's week four, friday. If nothing else decides to interfere, it shall be confirmed. I'm already missing my menengacocal injection for it, I expect all my buddies and buddies buddies to attend!
25/4/05
Last week I got a call from Craig from Radio Control, I was ever so pleased to hear he has "playlisted" 'Hypocrisy' and 'No Sympathy'! and what's even more super, invited us to come do a live recording of a 20 minute set and interview to be played in the first week or two of May as part of "NZ Music Month"! We're going in to do it on Thursday from 8-10pm, playing a couple of new songs which we only learnt today, so let's hope it turns out well.
Another final reminder, please attend our cd release instore if you can! Saturday 30th April 2pm Mango Music.
1/4/05
Alright! finally got a date, 30th of April, the last Saturday of the holidays. Please mark this date in your diaries and set a reminder on your cellular telephone, attendance is compulsory.
Maryland cd release instore at Mango Music 2pm Saturday 30th April
25/2/05
As you can see I've made alot of changes to the website, hopefully an improvement. We're attempting to organise a 'cd release instore' at Mango music, I'll post the date as soon as I get it.
12/2/05
Just got home from 'Bikewise', some 'Bike awareness' thing, our first paid gig! we played two 20 minute sets along with Twice Daily whos vocals were quite impressive.
We managed to play spectacularly crappily at Parachute. All feeling disapointed and embarrassed, we decided to stuff off to Taupo and get some beers right after our set. Still, check out the photos which turned out surprisingly well.
I finished the cover art for the cd last night, it should hopefully be printed and ready to purchase in a week or so! just so you know, it would be a crime against humanity to not get one.
18/1/05
Maryland are confirmed to play at 5pm Saturday 29th on the Debut Stage at Parachute 05. After much mucking around with Stephen being unable to attend due to prior sporting commitments, Jono Hicks has been kind enough to jump to our rescue and learnt our set very quickly, and what's more, agreed to pay the huge ticket price.
13/1/05
2005 huh. We recorded 5 tracks at The Stomach on Tuesday (11/1/05) it went spectacularly, they were semi-live, and Stephen and Shaun managed to get them in the first few takes, leaving myself to stuff around with vocals and more guitars for the afternoon. We'll be going back for mixing and to finish some of the vocals next Wednesday.
They will be put on a "mini-album" or "EP" or whatever you wish to call it along with the two songs we have previously recorded. 7 songs, 10 bucks, buy it.

I've just managed to get the forum up and going, register and start posting!!
